We’re excited to announce that AreaWP v3 is now available. This release marks a major step forward for the platform, bringing a complete rebuild from the ground up, a modern technology stack, stronger security, a refreshed interface, and a wide range of new features designed to improve the way WordPress hosting is managed.

This is more than just a regular update. AreaWP v3 has been reengineered around Docker and now includes a built-in panel, removing the need for DirectAdmin. The result is a more unified, flexible, and powerful platform for both administrators and customers.

A Complete Rebuild

Over the past months, the platform has been rebuilt completely from scratch using the latest coding standards and updated software versions. The goal was not only to improve the visual experience, but also to create a stronger foundation for performance, security, and scalability.

The new interface feels cleaner and more modern, while the underlying architecture is designed to support the next generation of AreaWP features and infrastructure improvements.

What’s New in AreaWP v3

  • Full API system for integrations and automation.
  • Dedicated and isolated containers and resources for each customer website.
  • An all-in-one panel for Docker management, users, billing, and website management.
  • Backup management for all users and administrators, with both S3 and local storage support.
  • Git management for easier deployment workflows.
  • Dev, Staging, and Production environments for WordPress.
  • A new billing model with monthly and yearly subscriptions instead of credits.
  • Payment support through PayPal, Stripe, and Tap.Payment.
  • An enhanced marketplace system to sell plugins or themes.
  • One-click updates for future releases.

Built on a Modern Stack

AreaWP v3 is powered by a technology stack chosen for reliability, speed, and long-term maintainability:

  • Backend: Python 3.11, Flask, SQLAlchemy, Flask-SocketIO, Flask-Migrate.
  • Frontend: React 18, Vite, SCSS, Recharts.
  • Database: PostgreSQL.
  • Containers: Docker, Docker Compose.

This stack gives the platform a modern development foundation and provides the flexibility needed to support future growth and new product capabilities.

What’s Next

The next major milestone already in progress is multi-server and multi-location management, currently planned for July 2026. This upcoming work will further expand what AreaWP can do and give users even more control over their hosting environment.

Final Thoughts

AreaWP v3 is a major leap forward for the platform. With its Docker-based architecture, modern stack, stronger security, built-in panel, and expanded feature set, it lays the groundwork for a more scalable and more capable future.

As part of the transition, AreaWP v2 will be discontinued in August and will no longer be supported, so users are encouraged to prepare for the upgrade.
